Review: OFRA Cosmetics x Francesca Tolot Infinity Palette

Writer's picture: Pomz CamposPomz Campos

Here is an underrated rainbow palette if one existed. I did consider adding this to the rainbow palette post I did back in June but I felt like this palette needed its own review post. OFRA Cosmetics to me, has always been a brand I was interested in trying but never got around to for one reason or another.

I was clearly missing out, from what you can see (Lip Color is Aiptasia from Menagerie Cosmetics)

I knew I wanted to try this product. But I wasn't sure if it would be stocked locally. It was, and very much accessibly so. Still, I kept going back and forth on whether I should get this palette until I finally bit the bullet and decided to get it when it was on sale on Shopee.

This is OFRA's collaboration with renowned makeup artist Francesca Tolot, who is widely known for her flair with color and there-are-no-rules-just-art approach to makeup. She has worked with many prominent photographers and has a long list of celebrity clientele that includes Beyonce, Madonna, and Elizabeth Taylor.

One would think that a collab like this would have gotten a lot more hype than it did. But oh well, here is the start of my own contribution to that.

The Palette

Since Francesca is a makeup artist, it would then be expected of her to create a palette that was simple but versatile. Many individuals in her profession tend to go for palettes that allow them to do a number of looks easily.

Encased in really heavy plastic packaging, this is a 9-pan palette with 4 matte shades and 5 metallic shades. The box this product came in was rather bulky and excessive and I didn't think it was necessary.

The Shadows

Before I go on to talk about the color story, these shadows are vegan as all OFRA products are. This means that there were no animal-derived ingredients in the eyeshadows. Also, none of these shadows are pressed pigments so you don't need to worry about eye irritation or lid staining with this palette. Here are the swatches on dry and bare skin:

Top to Bottom: Turchese, Tempest, Oscuro, Aurora, 10k, Mood, Chartreuse, Vitruvian, and Venus

Some of these colors, particularly the mattes, needed some building to get to the color opacity that you see in the above photo. While these colors do layer and build up nicely, I wouldn't say that all the shadows have one-swipe intense pigmentation. The metallics were easier to work with though, less sheer in pigmentation and quite soft too.

My Final Thoughts

I honestly really enjoyed using this palette. The color story is a nice balance of warm and cool tones. You can freely create a number of colorful looks without feeling too intimidated by the colors that you are given. While the colors need to be built up, it's nothing that a sticky base can't solve. The eyeshadow are also easy to work with and blend out. I didn't notice a lot of fall out either.

Sometimes, 9 colors is really all you need to make something creative

This palette does mostly have metallic shades, but you can get away with using the Turchese, Chartreuse, and Mood in your crease because they're not too glittery. Also, I've found that 10k works really well as a face highlight too. Though if you don't like a blinding highlight that can emphasize skin texture, you're better off just keeping it on your eyelids.

It's a pretty intense glow, I must say.

I think the reason why the colors aren't insanely pigmented might be because Francesca wanted this palette to be more approachable for makeup wearers who are new to color. It would be intimidating to play with it if you got too much on your eye too soon, after all. But that's what makes this palette so versatile, it's inspiring AND user-friendly.

This product is worthy of so much more hype than it got, and I think it is definitely worth trying. I wasn't disappointed at all in this product, and I'm really glad that this was a purchase I didn't come to regret. I was really missing out! If you were wondering about whether you should get this palette, I hope you found this review useful in coming to a decision.

Where to get it:

To further illustrate just how underrated this palette is, it is widely available online, and you can even get it on sale or use coupon codes to mark the price down. It's not limited edition either
