Here we go for the first palette review of 2020 - this is makeup Instagrammer and YouTuber Oh Abbi's collaboration with indie brand Spoiled Lips Cosmetics. Known for her wildly creative glam looks and masterful face paint looks, this palette is supposed to be the one palette that can allow you to become your most colorful and artistic self.

I've talked a bit about this palette on this blog but I haven't really had the time to really just talk about this palette extensively - until now. Well, better late than never. Let's go straight into the review!

The Palette

What initially drew me towards this palette was the color scheme, it does look like a rainbow palette at first glance but it's a mix of tones when you look closer. You have bright colors, pastels, metallics, pressed glitters, and an array of neutral shades that suit people who have deeper skin tones (morenas rejoice!)

While initially released in limited quantities, the clamor for it has convinced the brand to bring it back and make it a permanent product. Oh, it's also vegan by the way - that means that there are no animal-derived ingredients used to make these shadows.

Speaking of vegan shadows - when I first posted this palette, some people pointed out that this looks similar to the Jawbreaker palette from Jeffree Star Cosmetics. I do see some similarities so I would say that this is an indie alternative to that palette, but it isn't really a dupe.

The Shadows

So the Oh Abbi Palette has 24 shades in total: with 18 matte shades, 4 metallic shadows, and 2 iridescent pressed glitters. So here are the swatches by row:

First Row

(Left to Right: Kofi Cake, Sun Rays, Bub, Crush, Slide, and Ghost Baby)

Second Row

(Left to Right: Crute, Fuego, Dream House, 4 ever Young, Cheeky, and Blanco)

A small tip about the pressed glitters, you should definitely use an adhesive (I find that lash glue works best for me) and pat it on with a silicone brush or a cotton bud. Though this might affect the wear time if you have oilier lids like me.

Third Row (My personal favorite row)

(Left to Right: Simmer Down, Dr.dr, Zaddy, Tiffanies, Ashleys, and Regular Smeg)

Fourth Row

(Left to Right: Emotional, All Tea, All Shade, Garden, Deep End, and Quickie)

In terms of formula, I have no complaints about the eyeshadows. The matte shades are all soft and build up nicely. I did not find them that fun to swatch though, but they're really easy to work with. I had no problems packing them on or blending them out when I was making my eye looks. The metallic shades are great as well, consistent in formula and apply easily.

My Final Thoughts

I am honestly really happy with this palette. I love the colors that Abbi picked for the mattes because you get such a wide range of colors in varying levels of tones. I admit that I do find the colors that she picked for the metallic tones a bit weird though, mostly because I don't find them that versatile, given all the mattes in this palette.

Yes, it was around Halloween when I was using this palette (It's really good for that btw)

I think this is largely because Abbi has beautiful chocolate skin and these metallic tones would complement her skin tone a lot better than mine. Though, this makes her decision to go for iridescent glitter much better. This palette did get me to play with pressed glitters, even if they're my least favorite kind of eye makeup due to sensitivity and environmental reasons.

Took this photo in low light to show just how light the reflect of the pressed glitters are

Overall, I'd consider this one of my favorite palettes that I used in 2020, and I'm so glad Spoiled Lips Cosmetics decided to make this a permanent part of their product range. I'll definitely be watching out for this brand - and I think you should too!
