Review: Glamlite Cosmetics Burger Palette

So Glamlite was a brand that had me intrigued for a while. The US indie brand's claim to fame is food--themed makeup, and it's not just about sweets or fruits. They became famous because of their Pizza Palette. I wasn't too into it but when they dropped their Burger Palette, I bought it with some of Glamlite's lashes sometime last year. And I had fun with it, a LOT of fun.

Aside from the fact that their products are so IG-worthy and nicely-designed, I did hear good things about the quality of their eyeshadows as well. I wanted to see what all the hype was about for myself when I bought this palette, so here we go!

The Palette

So the Burger Palette comes in cardboard and tarp packaging, as the top is rounded and stuffed to resemble a burger bun. It comes in a cardboard box that looks like a burger box and has a magnetic closure. Make no mistake, while this does look like a burger, it doesn't smell like one.

This opens to a palette with 16 different shades, in a blend of neon colors and vivid bright colors. There are 10 matte shades, 4 metallics, and 2 dazzling diamond shimmers. This is definitely a palette that I'm comfortable using as it is colorful and has a lot of matte shades. Moreover, I am happy to say that this palette is vegan and contains no animal-derived ingredients, as all Glamlite's palettes are.

The Shadows

So the Burger Palette has really big pans, similar to the ones in my Juvia's Place and Blush Tribe palettes. So you get more product for how much you pay, which is great if you love these colors and see yourself using this palette a lot. If you happen to like big pans, this is already a plus for you. But anyway, enough chatter, here are the swatches:

Glamlite claimed that this palette is the first to feature their new and improved eyeshadow formula so I guess it might perform and feel differently from their earlier palettes. I definitely noticed interesting textures in the eyeshadows while I was swatching them on bare skin. Admittedly, I did find a lot of the matte shades a bit gritty and firmly pressed in the pan and many of them were hard to build up. I did my best to make them opaque but it was a struggle, that's why some of my swatches are wonky (close up below):

I also did notice a difference between the metallics and the new diamond shimmers. The metallics feel soft and buttery, with no hard pan or sealing. In comparison, the diamond shimmer shades (1000 EYEland and Blue Cheese), feel like wet, foiled shadows instead. They're a lot smoother but not as pigmented as the metallic shades and do require a bit of layering because of how oily it feels. Look at Blue Cheese compared to the other metallics:

Despite the issues with swatching, I had no problem working with the matte shades when I was already using makeup brushes. They come off really pigmented and blend out easily. The metallic shades are also easy to use, you can use your finger or a silicone brush for the best payoff.

As for the diamond shimmers, you need to use a synthetic brush to apply them because your finger will just press the product even more into the pan. You also need to layer them as they can look sheer or flaky at the first application. I suggest using glitter glue as a base so they stay on longer.

My Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed using this palette. I used it on my eyes but found that some of shadows look great. If you like warm-toned colors with some green shades thrown in, I think you'll really enjoy using this palette. I find the eyeshadow quality really great, I like the formula of these shadows. I didn't really have a lot of issues working with these eyeshadows when it comes to application, even the diamond shimmers were manageable.

What I like about the formula of the matte shades is that some of them even look nice when worn on the cheeks. I used Mustard and Sweet Potato Fries as blush and Cheddar as a highlighter, and all these shades melded well with my skin. It's a bold look, but I like that these colors didn't look like they were just sitting on top of my makeup. I use this palette every time I need a yellow blush.

Something that I need to mention about this palette is that the red shades do stain your lids after you take off your red makeup. I don't consider this an issue, but I know that some people don't like it when eyeshadows leave stains. If you're one of those people, I definitely don't recommend this palette.

I also want to bring up something about the packaging that Glamlite used for this. As I started using this palette a lot (and I have since I already hit pan on 4 shades in this palette), I noticed that some of oil in the non-matte shades was starting to seep into the cardboard of the palette. Some adjustments with the packaging might be necessary because I think this palette might fall apart from being abused.

I mean, this does kinda look gross...but proud of how well-loved this palette is

I do recommend this palette though. I think it will work for a lot of people, and it's worth it for the product and the quality that you get. I will definitely be buying other palettes in the future because I'm excited to see what they come up with.
