If you work in an industry where you're always being photographed or filmed, there's no denying the fact that false eyelashes make a huge difference. No matter how long or full your natural lashes may be, they never really pick up properly in photos or in film and sometimes, it just takes your makeup to the next level.

I do also think knowing how to put on falsies is a good makeup skill to have, even if you're only reserving it for special occasions or shoots. You can save the money you were supposed to spend on eyelash extensions and you can take them off when it's over. Also, if you've gotten tired of using mascara, falsies are definitely a lot easier to put on and remove once you get better at it.

So, you're probably wondering, what falsies would look good on you? It helps to look at different guides online but if you have similar eyes to me (almond-shaped, with uneven double eyelids that are more hooded towards the inner corner). I find that flared styles look best on me. From what you can see above, the longer and denser ends make my eyes look bigger and more open. So here are the falsies I like the most:
Dirty Little Lashes - French 75
When I was first getting into falsies, there was a time I struggled to find nice, vegan lashes in the flared style that I liked because so many lash brands touted their lashes as cruelty-free but offered mink lashes. I have been contacted multiple times by lash brands with mink lashes asking me to become an affiliate for them, and I have always ignored them.
But when Dirty Little Lashes contacted me, I was more than happy to buy some lashes. I chose these lashes in particular because I liked the crisscross pattern and the flared style. It's pretty dramatic that you can wear it to special occasions or nighttime activities, without being too long or obnoxious that you can't wear them to work or during the day.
Why I Love Them
I prefer a thicker lash band because the lashes are more durable and can withstand a lot of tugging when you're cleaning the glue off them. The French 75 lashes have a woven cotton band, which is really heavy-duty without being hard to bend and manipulate. It's no surprise that these lashes last a really long time (I have been wearing this particular pair for more than 2 months now).

It's also easy to clean these lashes because they hold their shape even while you're pulling and scrubbing them.

Admittedly, I find the packaging a bit excessive, especially when you repurchase and end up with a lot of them. The plastic case can for sure be reused so I'd like to see Dirty Little Lashes sell refills sometime in the future.
House of Lashes - Opulent Noir
Sometimes, I do eye looks that require a more subtle lash. Styles that aren't dramatic that they just cover up the eyeshadow and eyeliner but not so short that your lashes won't look prominent in photos (or in general). I find that these lashes do just that. They're still a bit flared but they're definitely a more natural-looking style, like they're just really long eyelashes. Here is what they look like, this photo was taken from their official website:
Why I Love Them
Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of these lashes before I went and cut them up to use. But these lashes also have a woven band like the French 75 lashes from Dirty Little Lashes, so it's thick but flexible and comfy. And as I mentioned, these are very versatile, especially for simpler looks. I used these lashes for a series of one-shadow looks I did using the Ruby May Cosmetics Purple Kush palette.

Unfortunately, I don't find these easy to clean and as a result, they didn't last that long. I still call these a favorite just for the lash style, and I enjoyed using these. But I'm not really sure if I want to repurchase them.
Fuego Lash - Margarita Lashes
I have never loved a lash so dramatic and long like I loved this pair - I loved it so much, I just bought two more pairs and I even became an affiliate of theirs. Fuego lash is one of those brands that prove that you don't need to use mink hair to make beautiful wispy, dramatic, and obnoxious looking falsies.
Why I Love Them
These lashes are made for dramatic and extreme eyeshadow looks and I'm just really glad they work for my eye shape. The crisscross pattern makes it so that my makeup can still be seen over these falsies and the flare style is so pronounced that I don't feel like I need to wear winged liner when I have these on. As usual, the cotton band is a touch I really like and I think these are quite comfortable to wear, even with now long and intense they look.

I will say that the only downside to these is that because they're so long, it's a little hard to go out wearing them in the day time because these longer lashes reflect sunlight intensely and I squint a lot. I definitely think these are better worn indoors or during the night. I still went and bought 4 of these though (and you can too, you can use POMZ for 10% off on their site if you'd like).
My Final Thoughts
I went ahead and linked the photos of lashes to the products on the site so it's a little easier since these lashes aren't available locally. I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing since I go through 1-2 pairs of lashes every 4-6 weeks so I can buy them in bulk and be fine for a few months. I think that's why it's important to find lashes that are durable and comfortable so you can wear them often but still have them last a good amount of time.
I hope these suggestions have helped you find some nice lashes that you will love if you have the same eye shape as me. Or, maybe you can the perfect styles for you from the brands I mentioned. Either way, I think false lashes are fun and I think there should be less intimidation around them.
