Review: Ace Beaute Flair Palette

Writer's picture: Pomz CamposPomz Campos

I cannot tell you how long I have lusted for this palette, and it's safe to say that I am much happier to have it in my collection. At first, I wanted to get it right away, but I had to hold off on it because I wanted to be able to buy it easily. Since discovering the beauty of freight forwarding, I snatched this and the Oceanic Palette up.

I was using this palette a lot during the Halloween months because I just felt like it had that grungy and fun vibe I was looking for. Bright, but not too vibrant. You'll get it once you see the photos. Before I go on, if you're wondering how to pronounce the brand name, it's like "Ace Bootay".

The Palette

Encased in orange cardboard packaging, the Flair Palette has Ace Beaute's signature gold mandala design on the front and opens to a 15 shade palette of warm and cool tones. This is Ace Beaute's first large palette that they released following their Quintessential palette back in 2017. Oh, and all their products are vegan, including this palette.

Please forgive the excess of palette shots, I'm proud of them because Ace Beaute shared my photos on their IG!

Looking at these shades, the color story does have a different way of presenting a rainbow palette. It's definitely for the people who want a more versatile palette with a twist. Not too bright and not too neutral.

The colors look really well-thought out too, and these colors look very nice on brown eyes. If you like wearing eyeshadow for the purpose of making your eye color pop more, look no further than this one.

The Shadows

If you look closely, each row is categorized by color family so you can visualize a look better. While most of the shades lean heavily towards warm tones, there are still a lot of nice cool tones too. Here are the swatches:

Take note that I did build up some swatches to full opacity but all of these swatches were done on bare skin with no base. And I was not sweaty that day.

There is no doubt that these shades are extremely pigmented. But, they're also easy to work with. All the matte shades are soft and blend out with no issue, and the metallic shades compliment the matte shades well and are buttery. I find the formula to be consistent throughout this palette, which is something I didn't notice on the Oceanic Palette.

Comparison With the Oceanic Palette

Aside from this key difference in eyeshadow formula, you might be wondering if there are any other differences between the Flair and Oceanic Palettes since I have both. Obviously, the color stories are vastly different. The Oceanic Palette is all blues and greens, while the Flair Palette has more colors. Are there similar shades? Yes, I think so.

So the swatches above are as follows:

  • Swatches on Left from Flair Palette: Forest Pine, Moss, and Sherbet

  • Swatches on Right from Oceanic Palette: Pacific, Seaweed, and Algae

The first two sets of swatches look very similar to each other, with slightly different undertones. But it's really hard to see the difference. The neon shades are very different though, so you don't need to worry about that.

All in all, it really depends on your color preferences. But I will say that if you want a nice palette from Ace Beaute, the Flair Palette is better in terms of quality and versatility. There are better blue palettes out there.

My Final Thoughts

Needless to say, I love this palette. I like the mix of rich deep tones and vivid neon shades, and that makes it a cut above many other colorful palettes in my opinion. If you happen to like more jewel tones over super bright colors, I would say that this palette is right up your alley.

I also laud the versatility of this palette. I have made some fun looks with both warm and cool tones, light and bold looks too. The Flair Palette's color story really just inspired me and pushed my creativity, and it was pretty easy to work with too!

Another tip: If you're out of brow powder and can't find any in a deep, warm brown shade, Acorn is a pretty good replacement. It builds up nicely and doesn't fade or smudge on your brows. I recommend it if you especially like the powder brow look. Acorn now has a huge pan in it now and that makes me happy.

So in terms of its versatility, color story, and quality, I wholeheartedly recommend this palette. It's a more expensive indie palette but I think it's still worth that price though. You can still wait for a sale to get it if you want to save, Ace Beaute has them quite often anyway.
