YouTube Made Me Buy It Tag

I know, I've been absent again. Let's just say that COVID-19 is real, takes away loved ones' lives, and mourning in lockdown sucks. Anyway, I feel slightly less miserable so I'm going to try and update this blog more regularly again, since I might be quarantined for the rest of the year anyway.

This is also called the "I Miss Beauty YouTube" tag because this was one of the things I had to give up doing to stay unbiased in my opinions as an influencer. But just the same, I still make my purchasing decisions based on a YouTuber's recommendation. These ones in particular:

Who are these lovely ladies and what did they make me buy? Well, it's not just makeup, there are also some fashion-related items on this list. So here we go:

MakeupByAnnki: Love Kills Boutique Fake Plugs

In case you're wondering, I completely blame her for my obsession with this brand and their beautiful fake plugs! She can always be seen wearing their earrings in her videos and has also done a lot of haul videos showing off her earrings.

I have so many now and I don't think I want to buy earrings from any other brand moving forward. They match my huge ears and they're always on sale so while these might seem costly to you, it's possible to get them 30% to 50% off.

Paulina Beauty: Her Palette and the Eco Tools Sponge

Paulina is a Swedish YouTuber who collaborated with the now nonexistent brand Blush Tribe to come up with a beautiful 9-pan palette. While Blush Tribe is no longer around (they closed during the start of the COVID-19 outbreak), I do love Paulina's true crime content and this palette.

Fun Fact: Blush Tribe shared this picture on their page when they were still a thing

While you can't buy this palette anymore, you can still buy this sponge from Eco Tools. It has a really nice shape, applies foundation evenly, and gives your base a smooth finish. Here's by very well-used and stained sponge:

You can easily buy this really nice affordable makeup sponge anywhere, even from third-party sellers. It's a good alternative to the famous Real Techniques sponge as I noticed that its quality is not quite the same anymore.

It's Black Friday: Killstar Clothes and Dollskill Shoes

Over the quarantine, I decided to slightly revamp my wardrobe because I realized that I wanted more black dresses in my closet because I have a lot of shorts, joggers, and band shirts (most of which I've had since I was a teenager). Now, I've always watched Freyja and have seen a fair amount of her transformation, lifestyle, and fashion videos. She has had haul videos from Killstar and Dollskill, which are popular darkly inclined brands.

I mostly bought the Dollskill shoes because it's quite hard for me to buy shoes I like in my shoe size (I wear a women's size 9) and Dollskill is pretty inexpensive compared to other brands. I also have a few dresses and a skirt from Killstar now. I just like how mature their dresses are and I think it's time I start dressing a bit more grown-up. Oh, and the skull bag can be bought from Killstar as well but I bought it from a different place.

Emily Noel: Revolution Makeup Concealer, Her Palette, and Ecotools Brushes

Most of my early makeup faves were bought because of Emily, mostly because she's completely honest and truly unique in how classy she is. I remember that she was also one of the first YouTubers to introduce me to the Revolution Makeup brand as well. Naturally, I bought her palette when it came out in collaboration with this brand. I liked it so much that I bought another one for my makeup artist kit so this is the one you see below with the concealers:

The most recent one I bought are those Ecotools brushes, and I do think they're quite nice for applying cream products like concealer and foundation.

Nails are by me as I've needed to learn new things while in lockdown

While I don't watch her or any other beauty YouTubers anymore, I still have these items in my collection and continue to use them at her recommendation.

Zabrena: Colourpop It's My Pleasure Palette

Zabrena was one of the first beauty YouTubers I watched back in the day, back when she was still macshadowscombos. While I also don't watch her content anymore, I do remember that I wanted to try this particular CP palette after she talked about it in a video.

It's a really nice purple palette, and it will be part of an upcoming color series post in the future.

nisipisa: Revolution Makeup Cut Crease Canvas

I mostly watched nisipisa as she's more of a beauty-centric commentary channel for her take on recent makeup releases, trends, and all the drama. She doesn't always do reviews but she did mention in one of her videos how this particular base got yellow eyeshadow to show up on her skin, even if she's half-black.

At that time, I was already beginning to use pressed pigments so I decided to buy this to see if it would get eyeshadows to show up better on my eyes. Yes, yes it did. She has changed my life.

Taylor Wynn: Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation

I would not have found my holy grail foundation if it was not for Taylor Wynn, the one and only pale princess. Not only did she get me to like my pale and oily skin, but she helped me find a foundation that actually matched my skin perfectly.

After watching her review on this, I immediately decided "I NEED THIS" and I haven't quite looked back. I know it's almost empty but I haven't been wearing foundation since being on lockdown so I might still have this tube for much longer.
