We are now approaching Christmas and since people in the Philippines get as excited as early as September, this post might seem a little late. Nevertheless, it is a reason to wear all your red, green, and gold eyeshadows to get into the holiday spirit. So, do expect the next few posts to be about more colorful palettes.

Anyway, this is about what I call the ultimate Christmas palette, the BYS Rebel palette. This was part of the Rebel collection that BYS Cosmetics released earlier this year and is part of their range of palettes that look like the Urban Decay palettes. However, I believe this palette is not meant to dupe anything in particular.

As you can see below, the tin case has a design meant to look like a studded belt, and I honestly love the way it looks.

I also adore the color story of this palette as I do think it's quite unique, especially in the drugstore. You get a stunning array of red shades, greens, duo-chrome shimmers, and dark neutrals.

I swear the colors look stunning in real life. Pictures do not do it justice.

I am happy to say that this product is also vegan as it does not contain any animal-derived ingredients and is paraben-free. Moreover, it is hypoallergenic and will not irritate sensitive skin. Onto the swatches.

First Half

Left to Right: Fearless, Edgy, Bold, Brave, Modern, and Real

Second Half

Left to Right: Boss, Rebel, Wild, Sexy, Revolution, and Courageous

All these swatches were made on bare skin and my fingers were dry. Some of these swatches did need some building up to get color payoff but I had little issue with pigmentation when I was applying these on my eyes. I do think it's best to not set your primer to really make these shades pop. The mattes still blend without much issue even on wet primer.

My Final Thoughts

I think the mattes in this palette are amazing. It's the same quality that I expect from BYS Cosmetics and this product is no different. The shimmer shades are a slightly different story. I think Fearless and Bold are quite crumbly but build up beautifully on the eyes and last a long time. Also, Real and Boss are two different shades as but they both look silver on the lid. I find this particularly unfortunate because Boss actually has a blueish shift to it that doesn't translate on the eyes.

I created this eye look by blending Rebel and Wild in the crease with Courageous on the outer V and Fearless on the lid. I smoked out the same red shades on my lower lash line.

But honestly, I do think this is such a small thing when the matte shades are so nice and if you prefer grungier looks or love Christmas colors, the shimmers don't really matter too much. Just like the look above, I've created a number of awesome looks using this palette with little difficulty. If you're looking for a palette full of Christmas colors that will push you out of your comfort zone, I do recommend that you pick up this palette.
