Hello everyone, I hope you've stayed safe and dry over the weekend. I do apologize for the lateness of this post as the weather was making it hard to stay connected while I was putting this post together.
Anyway, onto the review. Have you ever wandered into a drugstore (aka, your local Watsons), and just get intrigued by the makeup display because it somewhat has a product range it didn't used to?
I honestly have felt that way in recent years as drugstore brands continue improving their quality and packaging. I'm sure many of us have seen the BYS display at many a Watsons store.
BYS is a cruelty-free Australian brand that is well-known for its dupe products. Some YouTubers like Zabrena and Livloveshermakeup have featured them on their videos, though many local influencers also feature their products.
Recently, I think their more original palettes have become popular as well. They've ventured far beyond your usual neutrals and are creating dedicated product ranges with unique color stories. One of these products includes the extension of their Berries collection. After the success of their Berries palette (a well-known ABH Modern Renaissance dupe), they decided to expand and released a second palette, the Berries 2. I like the color scheme and decided to buy it.
The Palette
Encased in a sturdy berry-colored tin case, the name "BERRIES 2" is embossed in rose gold. It doesn't really feel or look cheap...with the exception of 2 brushes I will never use. I do think this palette could have benefited from names too, preferably printed on the pan since the brushes weren't that great.
This product is both cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. It is also formulated without parabens. The shades have a top row of shimmers and a bottom row of mattes. Since it lacks shade names, I will show the swatches by row.

Bottom Row, Mattes:
While they aren't the smoothest or pigmented eyeshadows I've swatched, I do think they work phenomenally on the eyes. Also given the variety of light, medium, and deep shades, this palette is quite versatile.
Final Thoughts
The shimmer shades work beautifully. While they are a stiffer formula and have a more frosted finish (not foiled), they have great lasting power and barely crease on my oily lids throughout the day, even after more than 12 hours of wear.
The mattes go on more pigmented than they appear in the pan (especially that black and muted purple shade) and blend out seamlessly. While the palette does lack a light-colored shade that I use to set my eyeshadow primer, the darker brown and the black shades make up for it because they add a nice level of depth to your looks.
You can create a soft lilac eye look, a sultry pink eye, or create a glam smokey eye with just the silver and black shades.
Overall, this palette was a complete surprise to me because I didn't realize that I would like it so much. Sure, it's not your usual neutral palette but it's versatile and the color scheme was well-thought out. I also really like the price point and the fact that it's available at your local Watsons or online. If you're looking for an affordable berry-toned palette that stays within the pink to purple range, I definitely recommend this.
