Sometimes, a collaboration between brand and an influencer can be a match made in heaven. But while the idea can be exciting, the execution or the intent may not be the best thing.
I'm sure we're all familiar with the drama that revolves around many collaboration products that often fall short in quality. This is especially disheartening if you bought the products because of your desire to support the influencer and end up with a sub-par product and some regret. The fact of the matter is, many brands often rely on the influencer's name rather than the quality to get the product to sell.
I usually stay away from many collaboration products, but when I love the color story enough, I get it. So, I did get this palette (particularly, I mean the second edition of their collaboration with Shannon Harris, or Shaanxo). The eyeshadows are vegan-friendly and of course, BH Cosmetics is a cruelty-free brand.
I had the same issue that some people had with the first collaboration, the shades lacked much variety for me. I also personally prefer liquid lipsticks over cream lipsticks from a palette.
What I do appreciate is how Shan herself is proud of her first collaboration, and she can be seen using her palette. Even so, she definitely listened to feedback and came out with a better palette for the second round. I am happy to say that just from the way it looks, it does not disappoint at all.
The Palette
Housed in sturdy cardboard packaging , the palette opens on both sides and has a neutral side with most of the original shades and another side with more fun colors, some even inspired by the lipstick shades of the previous palette.
While you will have to keep flipping this palette around to use the shades, I honestly think it was clever of Shan to design it this way. The space is thoroughly maximized and I think this is great to bring when you travel because it's small enough without being limited in color selection. It's a pretty interesting design, and if you consider a small palette travel-friendly but want a mirror and a variety of colors, this palette is pretty travel-friendly.
The Neutral Side
If I'm not mistaken, many of these colors were in the original collaboration palette that Shan did with BH cosmetics. It's mostly neutral, with the exception of Avocado, which has a slight duochrome shift, though it's not too intense.
Here are arm swatches of the shades on the bare skin of my arm from top to bottom:

Avocado

Glow Baby

Terracotta

The Remix Side
This is the side with more colorful neutrals (4 of them) and 5 pressed pigments. There is a warning on the packaging that says that the pressed pigments are not to be used around your immediate eye area. This means it's not recommended that you smoke these shades out on your lower lash line or use them as a liner.
It doesn't necessarily mean that the ingredients in the pressed pigments are not eye-safe. But they can stain your skin and some more intense color pigments can cause irritation for those with sensitive skin or eyes. If you're worried about that but still want to use this palette, do keep these shades on your crease and eyelid. I admit that I do wear these shades close to my eye area, but it's because my eyes don't usually get irritated by most pressed pigments. Do be careful if you're new to them.

My Final Thoughts
After wearing the palette on several occasions, I can definitely say that the eyeshadows are outstanding, as we all know about BH Cosmetics eyeshadows. The mattes blend seamlessly and remain pigmented throughout the day. The metallic shades are creamy, go on smoothly, and have good lasting power too.
If you want to try out color and want to be inspired without being overwhelmed, I felt that this palette gave me that exactly that purpose. I have created more neutral looks, some pink-toned looks, and even cool-toned looks. This palette's color story won't intimidate you but will allow you to play and have fun.
I definitely get a lot of use out of the more fun shades in this palette, as you can see. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this palette, especially to people who love versatile and portable palettes with a not-so neutral color scheme. However, you can no longer buy this from the BH Cosmetics website. It can only be purchased through the sellers I've found on the Shopee app.
If you are still interested in picking it up, I am happy to say that the collaboration that BH Cosmetics did with Shaanxo is a collaboration that is worth your money. I'm excited to see who they collaborate with next.
