Yes, I am well aware that it's almost been a month since I last posted. Honestly, it wasn't really intentional. I'm still 1. trying out a bunch of products and 2. adjusting to freelancing. But I've also been burned out in all honesty. I don't want to give up this hobby because it makes me happy to do this, so I needed the time off.
Anyway, remember those two ladies who made the Perfect Palette Tag? They made a follow up to it with more questions about palettes so here we are again for round 2. Let's do this!
Eyeliner, Brush or Nothing? (Included in the Palette)
I prefer a brush, and a good quality one. Some good examples include the brushes that come in Profusion Palettes and the brush that comes in the Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette.
Top brush is from the Naked Cherry Palette and the brush on the bottom is from the Profusion Siennas palette.
A Palette You Have Hit Pan On
High-End: BH Cosmetics Blacklight Highlighting Palette
I have hit pan in two shades in this palette and I can see myself hitting two more within next year. But I'm going to slow down on using this because I have other highlighters and because I love Illusion so much that I don't want to have less of it.
I know this palette looks disgusting but it's a testament to how much I have used it this year.
Indie: Bad Habit Beauty After Shock Palette
When I was starting out with color, I used this palette a lot because it allowed me to play with bright vibrant colors.
While this does have a more powdery formula, I really like it and I love the longevity and quality of these shadows. Rather sad that Bad Habit Beauty is no more, so I will be using this palette sparingly as I can't buy a replacement anymore.
Favorite “Naked” Palette
High-End: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
I don't really buy high-end or indie palettes that are neutral because I can never justify spending that much on shades I'd barely use, especially now. While this isn't the most neutral palette out there, it's a "naked" palette I don't mind having in my collection.
I do enjoy warmer tones because you can get away with peachy and orangey tones these days as more neutral looks, so this is an old palette but I still recommend it.
Drugstore: Milani Most Loved Mattes Palette
I honestly don't know why it took Milani so long to release eyeshadow palettes because their formula, especially their matte formula, is one of the best I've ever tried from drugstore brands. They're soft and blend well and have great color payoff that doesn't fade throughout the day.
I know that Milani does charge a lot for these palettes but I certainly think it's still worth the prize, especially if you're looking for a staple all-matte palette.
Favorite Holiday or Limited Edition Palette
Holiday: Revolution Beauty Life on the Dance Floor - Sparklers
The black and glittery packaging? I love it. The big mirror? Appreciate it. The color scheme of this palette? So on point. It's a beautiful mix of vibrant and cool-toned colors with a few neutrals.
I am so sad you can't buy this anymore because as much as I'd like to recommend this to others, I can't.
Limited Edition: Spoiled Lips Cosmetics Oh Abbi Palette
First off, I had no idea that there was a makeup brand out there that actually did eyeshadow palette subscriptions. Like, that's amazing! And I love that their palettes are well-curated and they're not just a bunch of random colors thrown together. Then, when I saw that they were coming out with a collab palette that wasn't part of their subscription services (and is therefore, limited edition) - I bought it the minute it came back on stock.
I love the pastel colors in this palette and I also really love the formula of these eyeshadows. I'm glad I managed to get this palette for myself because it will be heartbreaking if this never came back in stock and I never got it. I think it's a really good alternative to the Jawbreaker Palette from Jeffree Star Cosmetics + you support a POC collab from a small indie brand.
A Palette You Would Repurchase or Wish You Had a Backup Of
Indie: Bombshell Cosmetica Sour Blast Palette
I wholeheartedly recommend this palette because Bombshell Cosmetica knows how to put together beautiful color schemes and has an amazing shadow formula too. I know this collection will be restocked sometime soon but I don't know if it's permanent.
I can't bear losing out on such a beautiful color scheme again. This isn't just your usual bright palette to me and I'm happy to have it, especially now that it's discontinued.
Drugstore: NYX In Your Element Palette in Fire
I still have no idea why this never got to the Philippines. It has the first red eyeshadow I could call perfect and had a nice array of pretty warm but colorful tones in it too.
A Shade You Wish Was Sold Individually
I'm going to pick face powders that come in palettes for this one because I rarely have singles.
Blush: The "Supreme" Blush in the Tarte Goddess Glam Palette
It's actually tough between this and the highlighter, but I think finding a pink blush that matches this one exactly is going to be a lot harder. I am glad I have this one.
I do like that it comes in a palette since I rarely ever buy individual face powders but I would love to have a pink blush like this that came by itself.
Highlighter: Mood from the Ciate London Astrolights - Jewelled Palette
I need this sold by itself in highlighter size - I love the beautiful duochrome glow that it gives off on my pale skin.
Wild Card (Pick a Question From the Original Perfect Palette Tag to Answer Again)
Best Color Names Indie: Menagerie Cosmetics Whalesong Palette
The marine biologist my parents are will love these palette names. I do too.
Drugstore: I Heart Revolution Red Velvet Chocolate Palette
Honestly, it's hard to just pick just one Chocolate palette but I do like the names on this one a lot because I do like having my sweets with tea. The names are simple and not too explicit, but for some reason, they still call to mind images of scrumptious desserts and nicely made tea and coffee.
The names on this palette just remind me of that and they make me crave a moussey chocolate dessert paired with strong fruit-infused tea. You know what I'm having after writing this post now.
A Palette You Would Recommend to a Friend
Indie: Bad Habit Beauty Athena Palette
Sometimes, we have friends who'd like a more colorful palette over all the neutral palettes. While more colorful offerings aren't too common in drugstore brands, indie brands embrace them.
I am aware that this is a dupe of the Huda Beauty Desert Storm palette, but since that brand isn't cruelty-free, this palette is a pretty good alternative. While you can't buy this from the official Bad Habit site anymore, resellers still stock this palette online.
Drugstore: Revolution Beauty Sophx Palette
I would automatically recommend this palette to a friend because people appreciate an affordable brand and Revolution Beauty is a really popular brand here in the Philippines.
This is a nice versatile palette that is perfect for any beginner because it is mostly neutral shades with a few nice pops of color to keep things fun and interesting, especially when they're new to makeup.
