So Kat Von D Beauty is known for their high-quality products, colorful products, and unique packaging designed by Kat Von D herself. It is also one of the cruelty-free brands that are working on becoming a completely vegan brand in the near future.

Just by that definition, it seems like a brand I would normally gravitate towards. Though to be honest, I don't feel that way about it. For one thing, KVD products are expensive and I can't always afford to purchase them. Another gripe I have about this brand is that whenever they release a beautiful product (in many cases, an eyeshadow palette with vibrant colors), it is always limited edition.

How many of us have lamented not being able to buy the Metal Matte Palette, the Serpentina Palette, or the highly coveted Mi Vida Remix Palette in the past? I don't doubt that this palette will be another one of those palettes too.

While I dislike the FOMO that many brands push on us when it comes to Limited Edition products, I decided to pick up the 10 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette when it came out on Sephora PH. If this is going to be the only palette I might ever own from this brand, I wanted it to be special.

The Palette

This palette features 16 shades encased in gold packaging and has a good amount of weight to it. Given that this is a Limited Edition product, I do like the way it looks. If you're a makeup collector, it's worth having in your collection, especially if you love displaying your palettes.

Onto the shades, they're meant to represent the rainbow and 10 if them are named after some of Kat Von D's beautiful muses. The palette has a good mix of warm and cool colors and you can create neutral and colorful looks with it. Here are swatches of the shades:

First Row:

Adele (Named after @adelemildred) - matte chocolate brown

Malice (Named after @officialmalicemcmunn) - matte vermilion red

Ashley (Named after @itsmissladyashley) - matte peachy orange

Gina (Named after @ginaharrison) - matte mustard yellow

Egypt (Named after @for3verscott) - a glimmer gold

Sylvia (Named after Kat Von D's mother) - matte honey beige

Lala (Named after @hwahwalala) - matte olive green

Leafar (Named after @prayers, Kat Von D's Husband) - glimmer emerald

Second Row:

Melanie (Named after @melaniegaydos) - matte rosy cream

Alexandra (Named after @alexandrametalclown) - glimmer rose gold

Nancy - matte taupe mauve

Catherine2 - glimmer orchid purple

Kelly - glimmer blue-brown duochrome

Sarah - matte cool greige

Carolyn - a matte muted teal

Chad - matte cobalt blue

I've worn this palette for a good two weeks and have worn some shades for 20 hours at some times. So what do I think?

My Final Thoughts

In this particular photo, I wore Melanie as a base, put Carolyn and Chad in the crease, and Kelly on the lid.

I love the cool shades in this palette, they're pigmented and the matte shades blend smoothly. I love Leafar and Kelly, and they wear extremely well with glitter glue underneath. I used ELF glitter glue, which works great with many eyeshadows I use.

Sadly however, I was really disappointed with how the other shades performed, particularly the other glimmer shades and the warmer shades. Gina, Sylvia, and Ashley in particular don't go on as vibrant as they look in the pan and even with building up, I couldn't get them to show up that well on my eye. Egypt shows up well and has good longevity but Carolyn2 and Alexandra are hard to work with and don't go on as pigmented as I'd like.

I truly wanted to like this product as a whole because of the thought and effort that Kat Von D put into it. Unfortunately, that is not the case for this particular product.

I would recommend this palette if you want to have it in your collection or love high-quality cool-toned eyeshadows. Other than that, I don't think you're missing out on much if you decide not to pick it up while it's still out.
